HATSA METAL General Manager Sunel Karakaş: “Unplanned downtime and malfunctions are largely due to lack of maintenance. The industrialist does not tolerate production stops. Moreover, maintenance negatively affects the rigidity of the machine and hence the quality of the part being removed. Ignoring planned maintenance leads to loss of work, time, quality and reputation. Moreover, it leads to financial sanctions because the order is not supplied properly. For three years, the maintenance of the machines in our machine park has been undertaken by the competent personnel of TEZMAKSAN. We prevented many losses with the professional care of the company.”
Can we learn your story? How was HATSA Metal founded?
Our company was founded as a company operating in heat treatment by Ali Hamza Hamzaoğlu, a Metallurgical Engineer in 1982. In 1986, I got involved. At the beginning of the 1990s, the heat treatment plant serving to the market until that day with the investments made in machining started to be used for the heat treatment processes of the parts manufactured within the structure. We have been active in localizing spare parts of the automotive sector from abroad. Engine valves, valve guide and valve seats are some of our products.
How did your path intersect with TEZMAKSAN?
When our former place was in Bayrampaşa, it was not possible to recognize TEZMAKSAN. TEZMAKSAN is one of the oldest companies we have known since 1989. We have been together for years. Firstly, in 1990, we took the first step into commercial friendship by supplying the mold cutter of First. In 1996, we bought Goodway TA 32. Then Goodway GCL 2L took part in our track. While we are saying First, Toss, Goodway, Hummer, in our machine park, only TEZMAKSAN universal and CNC machines are working.
TEZMAKSAN has undertaken your planned maintenance… Are you satisfied?
We have a long history with TEZMAKSAN. It is a competent company. Especially after-sales service and service quality was a good reference to our plans for maintenance. TEZMAKSAN has been carrying out our planned maintenance for three years. Of course I was very pleased. We have seen quite a lot of the impact of the care provided by TEZMAKSAN both in managing time and working efficiently.
Why is scheduled maintenance important?
Production, like human life, cannot walk periodically uncontrolled. In CNCs, serious technologies consisting of many components and in production, there are very different variables from material to material. The manufacturer will not tolerate disruptions that will cause headaches, nor does the luxury of line stopping. Machine failures and unplanned downtime are largely due to maintenance. However, it is possible to prevent unplanned downtime and unexpected breakdowns by performing maintenance on your machine with professional hands.
Let’s ask the question in reverse, what are the consequences of lack of planned maintenance?
Failure to perform planned maintenance results in even greater financial losses.… The technology in the hands of the industrialist who ignores the maintenance, no matter how advanced it is, it may become unusable. In summary: you may lose your machine if you do not have scheduled maintenance. Not only that: if your production line stops, if you cannot make orders, your corporate image will be damaged and you may lose your customer. On top of that, after your contract with your customer, you may encounter financial sanctions for not being able to get the order done before the deadline properly. So you can miss many opportunities because you see planned maintenance as a waste of money and time…
