SELCUK UNIVERSITY MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS AUTOMATION AND COMPUTER ASSISTED DESIGN PROJECT

Selçuk University, with its 11 faculties, 1 public conservatory, 1 foreign languages college/upper school, 3 health colleges, 4 institutes, 13 research and execution centres and almost 60.000 students, takes its place among the first schools of our country.

The University has started to the infrastructure Project studies of Selcuk University Manufacturing Systems Automation and Computer Assisted Design, Manufacturing, Investigation and Implementation Centre which was founded in 17 May 2005 with the publication of Official Registry Gazete Regulations No:25818, with the purpose of meeting the requirements of Konya industry. Prof Dr. Ali Ünüvar indicates that in Konya city, automotive supplier industry being the first in the list, agricultural machinery, milling machinery, construction equipments, elevation and transmission machinery, tool sets (takım tezgahları) industry, food industry, chemical industry, construction materials industry need present product and technology improvement projects, although they are in a quite developed level. He aims to run common projects with the industrial incorporations and give educations about the subjects that the industry needs, run works within the cooperation of university and industry, run R&D studies about automation and robot technologies, improve products and new technologies with high tech methods with this infrastructure which is planned to be established. Tezmaksan Co. has given education to the University about the subject of providing Mori Seiki NL 2500 worktable/machine tool. Today, the most important necessity of the industry is to decrease manufacturing costs. The studies of the appointment of takım(set) lives with supplied equitments, to assign works according to the machine tools/worktables, to upgrade surface quality, temperature measurement, machining costs and to embody the most appropriate situation will also be exercised. The present conventional machines in the laboratory are not appropriate to do these operations. Practical investigations should be made in the labs which has the necessary conditions.

Within the context of the project the university members and the executives from the Industry should cooperate easily. For the workers who comes from the Industry, it is required to have enough assistance/contribution for the education and investigations in the university. This project is going to be a starting point for this purpose.

Regarding the points highlighted above, this project offer is important for its contribution to both our industrialists' technologic data/information level and the national economy as much as it is important for its contribution to the R&D studies.
